Italian Steak Pizzaoila – Ash's In The Kitchen
I made Steak Pizzaiola and Vegetable Carbonara for the first time and it made for an amazing winter dinner! I was looking for an authentic Italian recipe that I’d never heard of before. It really hit the spot and I will definitely be making it again!
- Steaks:
- 2 -1″ thick Sirloin Steaks
- 4 Tablespoons Butter; divided
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 3 cloves Garlic; smashed
- Sauce:
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 cup Onion; chopped
- 4 cloves Garlic; minced
- 2/3 cup Marsala Wine
- 4 cups Tomatoes; cored and chopped
- 1 Tablespoon fresh Basil
- 1 Tablespoon fresh Oregano
- 2 Tablespoon Parmesan; shredded
- 1/8 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Bring the steaks up to room temperature and pat dry. Season them liberally with salt and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add half of the butter. Sear for 2-3 minutes before flipping the steaks and adding the remaining butter as well as the garlic cloves. Baste the steaks for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from the skillet.
- Sauté the onions until tender before pouring in the wine and scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze the pan. Add the tomatoes, garlic, parmesan, herbs and seasonings. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the steaks back to the skillet and cover, simmering for an additional 5-6 minutes or until heated through.
- Slice the steaks and top with the sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan and chopped basil.
- Enjoy!
